THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF TEACHERS: 5TH OCTOBER

Given the various reports available, we have put together some data to explore how the job of a teacher varies around the world.
Research has now found that the education system in Finland offers the best value for money, with teachers achieving high Pisa scores, despite getting moderate salaries and teaching relatively large classes.
Finland was ranked first, followed by Korea, the Czech Republic and Hungary, in terms of efficiency. Brazil and Indonesia’s education systems provided the least value for money, the study found.

Where is teacher pay highest?

Teachers in Switzerland get the highest annual salary, an average of $68,000 (£41,000). This is higher than the average salary in the country, which is around $50,000 (£30,000). Switzerland is followed by the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium in terms of having highly paid teachers.
Comparatively, teachers in the UK earn less than the annual UK average of $44,000 (£27,000), receiving just over $40,000 (£24,000) and ranked 13 out of the 30 countries listed. Teachers get paid more in the UK than other European countries. In France, for example, the average teacher salary is $33,000, and in Greece teachers earn an average of $25,000.
Nigeria truly has a long way to go . The teachers reward must not only be in heaven ,the monetary part of it must be paid here on earth as no one spends the naira or dollars in heaven!
I am a happy and proud teacher who believes that the greatest dividend of this job is the transformation which we witness in the lives of the children and young adults that we teach as they become successful and responsible citizens. This however must not blind teachers to the fact of identifying their teaching talent, train and become skillful in the art yet find the proper markets to trade their skills for profitable reward here and in the now. Let God reserve for us what he alone can give as that does not include salaries in heaven but joy everlasting.
Dear friends lets celebrate with joy as we are celebrated internationally on the 5th of October. Lets go back to the classrooms with renewed vigour to raise responsible citizen who will become genuine Nation builders.
